Tradition started as innovation almost 100 years ago. Alpine skiing was a fringe idea and this region of the alps was largely agricultural, when a group of five ski instructors and good friends got together to purchase a hotel. Among them was Gebhard Jochum.
When the hotel was built in 1927, Zürs was just a small outpost.

The original Sporthotel Lorünser was built in 1927 and has since then been expanded with numerous additions and conversions to maintain modernity and comfort. The Jochum family, which leads the house presently in the third generation, has carefully maintained the nostalgic family flair of the early days despite the expansions. Today a luxury hotel of the highest quality with charm of the Alpine world in a pleasant ambiance awaits you. Soon you will certainly appreciate the Lorünser as a second home as well. In memory of the beginning, is a small ski museum provided in the ski cellar.
Today, the Lorünser is led by the Jochum family in the third generation.
